This section discusses ASE model exporting from 3d studio max. While exporting a model you have to remember a few things:
Materials

Supported materials: Standard and Multi/Sub-Object

Only bitmaps are supported, do not use other maps (like Mix, Noise etc.) as they will not display at all.

Tiling and offset are not supported.

Two-sided materials are supported, however they generate twice as much faces.
Animation
Animation support is a little experimental, works for most cases.

Only sampled animation is supported. While exporting do not set Use Keys.
Exporter options
Options that are not supported:

Animated Mesh

Animated Camera/Light Setting

Inverse Kinematic Joints

Shapes
-
Use Keys
Specyifying any of this options will make the ASE file bigger however should not have any influence on file loading and rendering.
